Future Guardian,
This month, we are starting something new. We picked it up from Jame Clear. He sends an email every Thursday called the 3-2-1 newsletter. This is how he describes it:
Each message includes 3 short ideas from me, 2 quotes from others, and 1 question for you to ponder.
We think it’s an excellent idea.
So we are going to model it, but with twist. The Guardian Academy 3-2-1 will be monthly and the structure will be 3 from me, 2 things new and 1 thing fun.
Three me, two new, one fun.
The three from me will likely come from conversations happening in the Guardian tier, the two new is self evident - it’s new stuff - and one for fun will often be something another Guardian Academy member is doing that we find interesting, entertaining and…uh…fun.
Three From Me
1.
Am I doing what I know? Or am I trying to know more than I do?
I should first do what I already know before I try to know more. If I can’t even do what I currently know, how does knowing more help me do more?
Do what I know, then seek to know more. In that order. -Bumpers

2.
You don’t need someone or something to be wrong to validate a choice.
If you do, you’re discounting your right to make choice because you want to.
…and making up villains or arguments because you don’t value your right to choose.
It’s okay to do something because it’s right for you. If you don’t get rid of your guilt, you will make enemies.
3.
“Oreos make me fat.”
This implies that a sleeve of Oreos snuck into your apartment and tied you down while you were asleep and then forced themselves down your throat against your will.
That’s probably not what happened.
Contrast the above statement with:
“I don’t have very good self-control around Oreos, I can’t eat just one or two of them. So, it’s best for me not to keep them around the house”
They may seem the same. But they are very different. One is the position of a victim, and the other is the position of someone acknowledging their role in the whole thing.
Be very careful about the way you speak - especially to yourself.
Two New
1.
The Unofficial Guardian Academy Facebook Group is growing and members seem to be having a great time getting to know each other.
It’s “unofficial” because it’s run by Guardians, not by our team. But we drop in for a good time and make announcements in there from time to time.
2.
Bumpers Workshops Start Next Week
Live, interactive Bumpers workshops start next week. They are scheduled for the first Monday of every month at 4pm pacific time. Details can be found at the link above. As per usual, we will be open to feedback and iterate many times.
Looking forward.
One For Fun
1.
Doc the Wolf continues to turn TGA principles into fun, interactive 6WU’s.
Parents and children can both learn from Doc The Wolf. Go check him out on your favorite social media platform. Find your favorite 6WU, leave your own, and read others. If you have a son, daughter, niece or nephew, grab his book, Turning Pennies Into Dimes.
It’s a favorite around here.
