I am always amazed about the synchronicity of reading one of the TGA articles and or listening to an Arena call. I had missed 2 and was listening to the replay, just after reading this article, without knowing that it was written following that particular Arena event. Having felt very undecided and down for months, this hit home. Thank you for sharing your deep reflections, there are so many tools in there that I needed to be reminded of and added to my endless apple notes with golden nuggets, principles, insights, that have lead and are leading to engaging the field step by step. It's all about the next small step that I choose, and that can or not lead to a small failure on my journey forward. or in 6WU: choose next small step, move forward.
Powerful, profound, engaging, and actionable. Seek, embrace, and lean into the tension and uncertainty of the valley of despair. It’s proof that you are making progress.
This reminds me of “the hustlers hoax” as Dr. Jeff Spenser talked about in his Exponential Potential talk at the Summit. Brings meaning of a phrase Tom Brown Jr used to say: “the whole act of trying negates itself” (Yoda’s “Do or Do Not, there is no Try” Quote). Pushing harder or having tunnel vision when sometimes we need to stop and take a wide-angle view of our situation.
A lot of good comes out of the Valley. All our survival needs are found in the Valley. Water, food, and shelter are all found in the Valley. The Valley is where we learn and go through the “fires of life”.
If lost in the Valley. We need to find the right path. Need to know how to navigate, a map is nice. To even take the next step in the right direction it’s helpful to know where you are at.
Tunnel vision will get you lost or keep you heading in the wrong direction. Tunnel vision is a stressed, survival response, that helps get us through the most intense and life threatening moments. It can be useful in certain situations. But the context and preparation matter.
Ideally we FLOW out of the Valley of Despair. Instead of climbing the mountain, we surrender to the river.
This is an excellent way to begin the weekend
6WU: What is the next right thing?
