You're In - Now What?

So, you stumble upon this idea and other useful ideas, perhaps after reading one of our articles or seeing one of our videos or having someone else explain it, telling their story.
Maybe you were referred here by someone who is in the midst of experiencing the transformation that is inherent in embracing this different way of living and doing. Maybe they've already walked the path and you think "I like how they think and talk and live, it feels right, I want to do that."
And you come in here to explore more and see if you can find the answer for yourself.
But the answer is not easy.
It is not quick.
You may read an article and think "holy cow that is genius and perfect, yes to all of it I'm going to start thinking and living life that way today!"
But then nothing changes.
The difference only comes when you live the ideas. When you process and reprocess. When you walk through the river multiple times.
Learning is NOT taking in new information, learning is applying it and discovering what happens for you in the application. It's applying new information in a way that changes your behavior.
So it takes time.
It takes doing and being.
And since theres no easy quick answer, it is hard to know where to start. You don't get instant feedback other than the enjoyment of reading and the feeling that the new idea can be highly useful to you.
The reason it's like this is that there is no One Way.
There is no One Solution.
There is no Step by Step.
There is only you, there is only here, and there is only now.
But in order to realize this you must take in these ideas, you must attempt to apply them, you must see how they can be made useful uniquely to yourself, and you must then revisit the ideas and keep on slowly nurturing yourself closer to the life that you want.
And while we can't give you a step by step …
We CAN help you walk forward. To take a next step. To take in and apply the ideas we talk about and teach in a way that gets you where you're going whether you realize it or not.
To (hopefully) not be overwhelmed.
Because everyone who walks this path fully, experiences tremendous transformation.
That does not come easy.
It's likely that if you embrace what we teach, apply it, learn and grow ... you will appear to change to those closest to you. This will be challenging.
So, let's start simple.
Let's start slow.
Our first foundational article is "The Process is The Shortcut"1 for a reason.
Because getting what you really want out of TGA is truthfully only possible if you follow the process. YOUR process. Of integrating, applying, reintegrating, reapplying, and constantly moving closer to what you want in life.
Secondly,
Learning.
Counterintuitively, learning happens when you don't try to solve the question a new idea gives you. We talk about this in terms of Open Loop Learning.2
In short, when you discover a new idea, piece of information, understanding, etc, typically you will feel driven to figure out what that new idea, piece of information etc really IS. What does it really mean? How can I apply all this NOW immediately?
Don't. Don't try to solve that. Just sit and exist with the new idea for awhile first. And observe. Observe life with the new idea in your mind.
And then ...
The Ultimate Lens
Whenever you are presented with new information and you are in that open loop phase of learning, you can ask yourself two questions:
What is it that I really want?
And
How can this idea/tool be useful in getting me closer to that?
If you don't know what you really want ... and I mean REALLY want in life, beyond "a fancy car," or "a trip to Spain," or "a house" ...
Take some time to figure that out. (The car trip and house may be a part of what you want, but they are simply that, a part)
Because if you don't know what you really want, if you don't have a solid deep understanding that every time you take a step it's getting you closer to what you really want, then how can you make any decisions well?
If you're trying to figure this out, consider the following:

So figure out what you want in life.
And when you deeply know this,
You can look at ANY idea, tool, product, solution, problem, and ask yourself ... How can this be useful in getting me closer to what I want?
That's the whole game.
Remember your Open Loops. Give yourself that question, with a new idea, and then just sit back and let the answer come to you.
It may be quick. But it may take living through significant experiences in your life for those pieces to fall into place.
A common response to that is essentially "but I don't want to wait." We devalue how much going through that experience MEANS to the final understanding.
